Special Visitors
On September 4th the refuge had two special visitors, Congresswoman Michele Bachmann and Assistant Secretary of Interior Lyle Laverty. They were at the refuge to view plans for the Discovery Center and to meet with members of the Friends of Sherburne. What an exciting day. Thanks to Ron Cleveland for sharing these photos!

September 4 was a great day for the Friends of Sherburne! 13 Friends members plus several refuge staff members participated in the meeting with Congresswoman Bachmann and Assistant Secretary of Fish and Wildlife and Parks, Lyle Laverty. Although neither could promise financial support for our Discovery Center project, they pledged to make every effort to look into options for us and help whenever possible. The event itself drew a lot of positive PR from local and area newspapers, and we even made the morning drive-time news the next day on WCCO radio!
